A person not residing in Delaware and not having full-time employment or an established place of business within the State, who is legally qualified by registration to practice engineering in that person's own State of residence, may make application to the Council for a permit to practice engineering in the State of Delaware. Such permit is limited to a period of one year and for a specific project. The individual fee is $100.
If the engineering work is to be done by employees of an engineering partnership or corporation not having an established place of business within the State, which is legally qualified by registration to practice engineering in that partnership's or corporation's own State, a permit to practice engineering in the State of Delaware must be obtained by such partnership or corporation. Such permit is limited to a period of one year and for a specific project. The partnership or corporation fee is $300.

(3) On separate sheets, explain why you or your corporation believe you are competent to perform this work. Enclose descriptions of examples, including dates, of work similar to this project done by the individual applicant or done by each responsible engineer in a corporation or partnership, in sufficient detail to demonstrate competence.
(4) Contact the Delaware Division of Revenue to determine if you need a business license in Delaware for this project. Please note that applicants for the Permit must comply with all Delaware State Tax Laws before a Temporary Permit may be issued. Further information may be obtained from the State of Delaware, Division of Revenue, 820 N. French St., Wilmington, DE 19801, (302-577-3369).
(5) Complete the Application Form and the appropriate affidavit and have it notarized. Mail to the DAPE office, Suite 208, Plaza 273, 56 W. Main St., Christiana, DE 19702, one copy of the application together with the information called for in (3) above, and keep copies for yourself. All applications must be accompanied by a check for the application fee in accordance with the DAPE Fee Schedule.
(6) Complete the "Verification of Registration" Form by addressing it to your local Professional Engineering Registration Board Office and filling in your name, address and any reference number that will help your Board's Office find your records. Add your date of birth and Social Security number but leave the rest of the form blank, as that will be completed by your Board's Office. Prepare a stamped envelope addressed to Delaware Association of Professional Engineers, Suite 208, Plaza 273, 56 W. Main St., Christiana, DE 19702. Send both the "Verification of Registration" Form and the envelope you prepared to your Board's Office, together with any fee that they may require to process the verification. Your Board's Office will send the verification form directly to DAPE after it is completed.
